Discouraged?
Helen Lemmel experienced what could have left her in dark despair when she was struck by a disease that caused her to go blind as a young woman.
As a result, she was abandoned by her husband. Yet amidst her situation, blind and broken hearted, she turned to Jesus and wrote over 500 hymns of praise and worship! This beloved hymn came out in 1922:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face and the things of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace."
Wow, it really is all about perspective. Who has your gaze? Are your eyes fixed on things on the earth? If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we will begin to see things differently.
What you focus on grows! That is a powerful statement. Think about it for a moment. Bill Johnson says it this way, ‘you become what you behold.’
Are you focused on the problem or are you focused on the solution? Are you focused on the negative report, or will you focus on what is available to us as believers?
His grace is sufficient (adequate for the purpose; enough). In Him we have all we need.
I want to encourage you today to turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of Earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
