Dreaming with God
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Do you wonder if this verse applies to you? Have you asked God for things and have not seen the answer? Are you a little unsure of how to dream big with God again?
These last couple of years have taken a toll on peoples’ hope levels. It seems like all we hear is bad news or at the very least really weird news. It has been difficult for many of us to keep our hope up and believe the best.
I had a moment with the Lord in my garden a few years ago and it reminded me how very faithful He is. I would sit out in my garden space with my morning coffee and read. As I was doing this, hummingbirds would start to fly really close to me and just hover right in front of me. It kept happening day after day. At one point I put my book down and said, “What is going on with you hummingbirds?”
Instantly, my phone rang—it was a friend of mine and she said, “I see you in your garden and that is your new meeting place with God.” I laughed and told her I was in the garden at that very moment and began to tell her about the hummingbirds. She then told me hummingbirds represent prophetic promises, and being in the right place at the right time.
So I asked God what He was trying to tell me. He said to me, “You had a dream in your heart years ago that you have forgotten–but I didn’t.”
Turns out that dream was the house next door. When we moved into our house we met and became friends with our neighbors. A year after we moved in, they told us they were moving and wanted us to buy their house. At the time, it was not possible for us to do that financially, but I always thought of that house and dreamt of owning it one day.
Fast forward 16 years, the current owners of the house decided to move and offered us the house!!!! We said YES this time and 5 months later moved into the house that had once been a dream.
Even though I had not thought about moving into that house in quite some time, the Lord had not forgotten about that little desire. He is so faithful and will bring things full circle in our lives as long as we keep loving and serving Him.
I am now living in my dream house! It is a constant reminder of His faithfulness and goodness.
What dream do you have? Ask God to breathe on it again, and see what happens.
